About the Artist

Dharshana Bajaj is a contemporary painter from Chennai, India, known for her conceptual art, landscapes, and abstract paintings. Her art is inspired by nature and emphasizes the interconnectedness of humans and the environment. Through her work, Bajaj aims to raise awareness of humanity’s integral relationship with nature. These expressions also stem from her appreciation of the ancient Indian philosophy of Advaita, which means “without duality.”

Born in 1973 in Chennai, India, Bajaj graduated with a Master’s degree in History of Fine Arts from Stella Maris College, Chennai, in 1996. Yet, her artistic journey has been shaped more by personal exploration than formal art education.

Bajaj’s preferred medium is oil paints on canvas, but she also works with water colors, acrylics, and graphite. Her first solo exhibition was held in 2005. Since then, she has participated in many solo and group shows, locally and recently even overseas.

Some of her paintings are in the collections of two museums in South Korea, the Chang Kil Hwan Art Museum and the Haegeumgang Theme Museum.
