This oil painting is from artist Dharshana’s earlier series titled Under A Crimson Sky. Here we can see a little boy sitting comfortably beside a tiger, protected by his innocence and purity of spirit. The sky in this parallel universe is crimson in color, indicating this world is protected by the power of love. This contemporary oil painting is an expression of the artist’s own yearning for a better world. Titled Born Brave, this is one of the visions the artist holds for all children everywhere. To be safe no matter where they are.

This Chennai-based contemporary Indian artist adds “Art for me is an ongoing dialogue with life and my journey as an artist continues to be a process of self-discovery and self-healing. While some of my paintings are representational, most of them share insights gained from reflection and reading, and from my personal journey through life.”
